Javan Tiger

The Javan Tiger (Panthera tigris sondaica) was a subspecies of tiger native to the Indonesian island of Java. It was the smallest of all tiger subspecies, with males weighing up to 300 pounds. It had a dark, narrow-striped coat that helped it blend into the dense tropical forests of Java.

The Javan Tiger was a solitary hunter, preying on wild boars, deer, and other large mammals.

Unfortunately, due to a combination of habitat loss and hunting, the Javan Tiger was driven to extinction. The last confirmed sighting of a Javan Tiger was in the 1970s, though there have been unconfirmed reports since. Its extinction serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of human activity on wildlife and the urgent need for conservation.
