Scavenger

A scavenger is an animal that feeds on the remains of dead animals instead of hunting for live prey.

Scavengers, like vultures, hyenas, and crabs, are nature’s clean-up crew. By eating carcasses, they recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem and help prevent the spread of disease.
